Akora Khattak Railway Station

Akora Khattak Railway Station is located in a town in Jahangira Tehsil, Nowshera District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. This railway station was built around 1888 during the British era. Akora Khattak Railway Station is located on the Karachi – Peshawar line. Akora Khattak Railway Station is located between Jahangira Railway Station and Hayat Sherpao Railway Station. Akora Khattak railway station is about 310 meters above sea level. The distance from Akora Khattak to Peshawar is about 85 km.

There is also a military cantonment at Nowshera, situated on a sandy plain along the right bank of the Kabul river, two miles in diameter, and surrounded by low hills on all sides except the north, which opens towards the river. . Gerritharn now consisted of one British infantry regiment, two native cavalry and four infantry regiments, one battalion, and one bearer corps belonging to the Peshawar Division of the Northern Command. The railway and railway bridge across the river was opened on 1st December 1903. The town, 3 miles from the cantonment, with the headquarters of Nowshera Tehsil, has a government dispensary and a local middle school managed by the District Board. Borders of Nowshera =- Nowshera district is bordered by Peshawar district in the west, Mardan district in the north, Charsadda district in the northwest, Peshawar district in the northeast, Mardan district in the north, Orakzai agency in the west and Attock district in the east. The weather in Nowshera is generally colder from November to February and hot from June to August.

Akora Khattak railway station is quite big and beautiful railway station. The building of this railway station is built with strong stone bricks with great beauty. The building of this railway station is painted white inside and out so this building presents a very attractive sight. This railway station building has many rooms including station master office, ticket house, waiting room, light warehouse and parcel warehouse etc. Kalma Tayyaba is written on the front wall of this railway station building and Akora Khatak is written in black ink in Urdu and English in the center of the building a short distance away. Inside the main building of this railway station and outside the station master’s office, there is also a weighing fork which is used to weigh the luggage of the passengers and this fork is built during the British rule. At this railway station, there is a stand on which are hung red buckets filled with sand and water, which are used to extinguish fires. There is an arrow on the platform side in front of this railway station building which indicates the direction of Qiblah. The building of this railway station is very beautiful as the station has lush green grass, flower plants and other plants and the beds are also built around them which are painted white and they present a very attractive view. The railway also has large trees, including banyan, sycamore and berry, and some shade plants painted white on the lower part. Water has also been arranged at this railway station and a plastic tank has also been installed. At Akora-Khattak railway station, a single platform which is based on considerable length. At this railway station, beautiful wooden and iron benches are also placed around the platform. There are three lines passing by this railway station, in which one is the main line and the other two lines are two loop lines. An iron fence has been installed around the plants of this railway station. There is a lot of population around this railway station and it is a good area. A lot of trains pass through Akora Khattak railway station but currently no train stops here.
